Class 3 rugby coaching and netball.

Will Pert is also coaching class 3 for PE as well as running the after school club for KS1.

Y5 practise their line out skills.

Can 4 defenders stop the try from being scored?

                                                              Coaching tips and next steps.

Into a game now.

Year 6 now start their warm up games.

Teams try to run the ball up the field to score a try with 4 defenders trying to stop them.

Some good skills from Y6.

March 1st was the first round of our matches in League 2. It was a sunny night for our High5 team.

We played against Belmont and won a close game.

Our second match was against Grantham Preparatory and we lost.
March 15 th was our next round of matches. 2 new players joined us to gain experience before the High 5 netball festival: Maddie and Katelyn.

We played against St Mary's but lost- we played the better netball but could not score goals! Our next match was cancelled as our opponenets had dropped out of the league so we played a friendly match which gave good experience to our new players.

Gym club and competition certificates.

Mrs James has continued running a gym club and coaching children ready for their competitions.
The Under 9 team who competed at the Key Steps Intermediate Gym Competition received their certificates and badges in Collective Worship.
They represented the school well and behaved impeccably so were chosen to blow out the candles at the end of our worship.Olivia was ill on the day and Tessa stepped in at the last minute. The competition was very tight with only 2.6 points between the first place and the last place out of 50 gymnasts.

On Sunday 11th March these children (plus Gracie Y6) competed in the Under 11's, Under 9's and Under 7's Gym Competition.
Here thay are practising their routines and skills with MrsJames.

The children ( minus Gracie) received their certificates in our Collective Worship.
Well done gymnasts and thank you Mrs James for your time coaching and giving up your Sunday for the competition.

KS1 Mini Rugby Club .

Will Pert from Inspire+ is running a mini rugby club for Y1,2 and 3. The first few weeks the club had to be inside as the weather was poor.
Children enjoyed learning rugby based games such as Rugby 'stuck in the mud.'

At last the weather was fine so the group could put the tag belts on and play on the field.

They learned about tagging and passing the ball as part of a team.

Hopefully more sessions can be outside!

Gym in class 1

Class 1 are continuing to enjoy their lessons with Carol Foote. This week they had all the equipment out including the wall bars.
First Carol explained the layout and the expectations of the lesson.

Then children practised the skills they had learned in previous weeks lessons.

Fabulous gym work.

Squash Club Y4,5,6

Skills are so good in squash that children can now play mini games using the indoor nets.
To see who serves first rackets are spun - a bit like heads and tails.

Play has to keep within the throw down lines.

Pairs keep going until a point is lost then another opponent comes onto court.

Next week its 'squicket' - a mix of squash and cricket.
