Certificates in netball and swimming

Netball
Our netball team received their certificates for working well as a team - 2 wins, 2 draws and 1 lost game- not bad for our first round of matches. League matches start again in March 2014

Swimming.

The deep end swimming group completed their personal survival tests and proudly show their certificates.

They competed tasks wearing several layers of clothes, showed they were able to tread water for a sustained period, were able to huddle together to conserve heat and survive as a small group and answer questions based on survival in open and deep water. Life skills-well done all.

Distance badges

Children completed their distance badges-here are most  of the new distances achieved .Children worked hard all term and most were able to improve their distances within the 40 minute lesson.
 Distances ranged from 75 m up to 1000m !
The missing certificates from last term!

A special  mention to Chloe and Conor for achieving 1000m.
They had to stop as the lesson ended-they could have kept going!

Netball matches-November.

On Wednesday we played our next 2 netball  matches at the Meres. First we played against Ingoldsby and won 4 -1.We  then played a really close match against Long Bennington which ended in us losing 4-5. The game could have gone either way and both teams were well matched. Our team really played well and showed to all supporting how far they have progressed in game awareness, skills and team work over the last term.Well done.

Volley Ball Competition

On Thursday 6 children entered the volleyball competition at Priory Ruskin School. After a brief introduction to the rules( no prior experience was necessary-or so the entry form stated!) we were soon into our first game-we lost! We won the second game against Denton, lost the next against the eventual winners-Isaac Newton and lost our 4th game against Grantham West but finished on a high winning against Ingoldsby.

we enjoyed -in the end-once we knew what we were all doing!

Class 3 PE Volleyball

Class 3 have also been working on improving their ball skills. Throwing and catching have all been practised and now these skills are being put into different game contexts.
Seated volleyball...
deciding who to throw to next-3 clear passes needed to be made ...

up on knees ready...
trying to score a point...
saving a point...
eyes on the ball...
diving to catch-but must remain on floor...
watching carefully...
have we made 3 passes?

Now for a rule change-standing instead of sitting...
remembering the new rules that Mrs Chadwick introduced...
serving...
will it score?
going for a point...
3 clear passes...
is it a point scored?Looks like it will be.
