Sam Ruddock-Inspire+ Assembly

On Thursday we welcomed back Sam Ruddock ( a Para Olympian )to talk to us about setting and reaching goals. As part of our Legacy Logs( which children will be getting soon) Sam launched the aim of setting personal goals, the "Desire, Planning and Commitment" needed in order to reach these goals.

Here Sam is reminding us of the need to focus- all we had to do was clap when the ball bounced! Not as easy as it sounds!
We were caught out several times by clapping when Sam did not bounce the ball!

Sam talked to us about Evolution and what this meant. He asked the children and they came up with some good definitions- all about change, us changing, growing and evolving. Sam related this to his career-he started out as a sprinter and now he has evolved into a shot putter.

Here is Sam competing with his goal-A medal in the Rio 2016 Para Olympics.

Sam talked us through that in order to get a medal it takes a lot of work -you need "desire, planning and commitment." He discussed with the children what each of these steps meant.

Now it is your turn....Sam showed the target setting cards that everyone will soon get so they can set their own goals ready to work towards reaching our goals. (School will select some of these cards to send to Inspire+ to be judged alongside other entries from all primary schools in the area).
The medal Sam is aiming for in 2016.

Good Luck Sam- we look forward to your next visit and hearing all about how you are getting on and what your next challenge is.
