Shona McCallin- Olympic Gold medallist.

On Tuesday our first day back after Easter we welcomed Shona McCallin the gold medallist from the Rio Olympics.
Shona started off by asking us what we knew about her.

She was born in Grantham and still lives locally so was here to inspire us to become the next Olympian gold medallist from Grantham.

Shona then told us a bit about her life as a hockey player and how hockey was her job.
Our bronze ambassadors as always taking part in our assemblies.

Shona showed us a short video of the winning match in Rio and where her team were presented with their medals.

She shared some stories about her stay in Rio .

What's in the box? A beautiful wooden box... a very special box....

...it can only be .... a gold medal!
Wow! 500g of pure gold!

Some questions about Rio...

...now time for us to ask questions. We asked some excellent ones.

Shona left us to think about this- who would be the next Olympian from Grantham?

Always an opportunity for a photo-our Bronze Ambassadors with Shona.

How lucky are they to have seen up close and touched a real gold medal?!

Luke knew about Shona as he lived in the same village-Dry Doddington.

Thank you Shona and Inspire+ for another inspirational visit.

Dance Club YR,1,2,3.

We welcomed Michelle from Inspire+ to take 20 excited children for their first dance session.
A warm up game passing the hoop round without breaking the circle whilst the hoop was filled with beads so added to the background music as the children moved their bodies!

Another activitiy copying Michelle.

Moving , skipping and jumping...

making sue they were always watching...

Next week more work towards a mini performance.

Netball Club Y4.5.6.

Our club this term is netball with Inspire+ coach Christine. 20 children signed up ( with a waiting list too) and were put through their paces learning about footwork, pivoting, passing and some of the rules. It was great to see competent netballer from the school team playing alongside children who had never played before.
pivoting...

Starting to play small games using 1/2 the court so 4 teams could play simultaneously.

Christine coaching and prompting ...

 a throw up....

Great first session- the next team of 2017-18 in the making?
