PE for class 2

Class 2 have been working hard to improve their ball skills of throwing and catching. This week we put our skills to the test and tried to include a challenge such as throw ball up, clap under legs  and catch the ball!

getting ready to clap and catch

keeping eyes on the ball

some tried to throw, touch the ground and then catch their ball
some tried to throw, turn 360 and then catch
concentration was needed

showing what we have learned this half term

We are now much better at throwing and catching.
Only 1 ball escaped through the railings and onto the road! Much better than at the start of the term.

Cross Country

Our team of 12 year 5 and 6 children trained every Monday lunch time-how many laps of the school field could they complete in 10 minutes? We entered the Grantham and District Cross Country League and took part in the 3 races .Each race was 1.5km .
Our team before the first race at Queensway Priory Ruskin sports field.

After the 3 races we came 6th in both the girls and boys teams out of 17 schools.
Jess(Y5) was our highest placed girl coming a creditable 9th overall.(out of 80+ ).
Daniel (Y6) came 15th and Conor (Y5) came 18th(out of 80+).Excellent results for these individuals and pleasing places for the teams as most of the children were new to the event. This bodes well for next year! I am hoping for some top 10 places in both teams.

Netball

On Wednesday October 9th we played our first league matches at Walton Girls school. We lost our first game against Long Bennington A team 4-1, we won our second game against Allington 1-0 and we drew our 3rd game against Corby Glen 0-0. Overall these were good results considering the team has had very little match experience. The goal scoring rate was low as the weather was very windy and it proved hard to score.

Our next round of matches are in November.

Bronze Ambassadors

Amy and Jessamy have been appointed as our new Bronze Ambassadors. They attended a training session along with Mrs Chadwick that was   run by Inspire +. Here they brainstormed what qualities were needed to be a good ambassador and what they would be involved in throughout the year. They were given T shirts and wrist bands.

Here Amy and Jess are working with Inspire + CEO Vincent  thinking about what their role entails.

Jess was happy to present the ideas that her group came up with to the rest of the young ambassadors.
Jess and Amy are conducting a PE  pupil survey - asking children what they enjoy and what they would like to do.This will help them decide what to spend their budget on and they will be discussing this with Mrs Chadwick after half term.
