Netball

We had our first round of matches this week at Priory Ruskin. We played Long Bennington ( who took the place of Great Ponton) -we drew 4-4. Our second game was against St.Mary's, we won and our 3rd game against Ropsley we won  too. A fabulous start with 3 new players in our team who had not played a competitive match before. A superb team effort all round-well done. I was very proud of all 7 children-they represented our school extremely well.

( Sophie is missing from the photo-so I will add another photo after our next round of  matches on 9th October)

Cross Country 2nd race

Another sunny day for our second and final race ( there are 3 but we are away next week). We have talked race tactics and what worked well/ not so well last race so are ready for this race.
The girls lining up, Jess has picked out the race winner from last week and aims to keep pace with her.

                                                                           And go....

1 lap down, 1 to go!

Jess keeping up with the leader- she gave her a fright and almost ( and I                                                mean almost ) beat her. A fabulous effort-2nd place.

The boys lining up ready.
Results will follow when we receive our placings following the 3rd race on 1st October.

Cross Country races

Is it that time of year again already? Yes-time for our first race on the grassed area behind  The Meres . All schools in the Grantham area are invited to select their top 20 boys and top 20 girls to enter these races over a distance of 1.5km.
We don't have that many children to select teams from, so any Y5/6 who trains in school and wants to race are entered as  our teams!
This year 3 girls and 6 boys entered the races ( with others just completing the training in school).

Our 2 teams at the start in our school kit.

All photos were taken  before 110% effort was put in by all these children.
It was hard!
Lots of red faces and out of puff children at the end.

Jess came 4th and Conor came 24th-our top boy and girl with other very commendable places.
2nd race is next week-watch this space.
