Under 11 Football Tournament

On a drizzly 5th November 8 boys and 1 girl took part in the small school football tournament at the Kings School Playing field.
We got off to a slow start against Grantham Prep.but by the second half we were the dominant ones- a very even game until the last 30 seconds when we let a goal in and unfortunately lost.Pity as we deserved a draw.
Our second game was against Berkston and we were outplayed and lost the game.
Barkston are blue and we are in the schools red and black stripes.

Isabelle and Adam restarting after a goal had been scored.

Great goal keeping from Casper saved us from many more goals.

It was hard to smile having just lost.

Next we played Harlaxton.
We had a lot of the possession and plenty of chances -Isabelle scored our first goal which made everyone feel better and we then went on to score 2 more.

Harlaxton fought back and scored 2-could we stop them equalising?
We kept pushing-Adam, Riley and Isabelle all making it hard for Harlaxton.

Casper saved lots of shots and helped us win3-2.

Riley was relieved and pleased.

Team talk- we are not changing the team-it worked and so no Casper and Riley  swapping goalies and no Luke you cant go upfront- you are too valuable as a defender. Thanks to Riley's dad who helped with tactics and coached from the side lines.
Thanks also to Mr Ross who brought hot tea for the adults- much appreciated.

last match against Colsterworth-they had some big players

Casper our captain with the ref for the toss.

We had to defend well which we did and we won 1-0.
So all in all a good afternoon for a team that has not played together before. If only we had drawn ( or won ) the first match we could have been 3rd .

We are still pleased with 4th - won 2 lost 2 is not bad at all giving us equal points with Grantham Prep and 4th overall place.
