Netball
On Thursday we took part in the High 5 Netball Festival. 20 local primary schools took part. On a cold( a really cold ) afternoon we played against Denton-winning 3-2, Harlaxton winning2-0,Barrowby winning3-2 and Ropsley B winning 6-0. All matches won meant we were placed on court 1 to play the winners from the other 3 leagues. This time the competition was much tougher. We played Belmont drawing0-0, Corby Glenn loosing 3-2 and finally Ropsley A loosing 4-0.
Overall we finished 4th-just outside the medals. A fantastic effort from all our players, we held our own against much bigger primary schools and are really proud to say we are the 4th best team out of 20.
Mrs Chadwick is so proud of us she has ordered special netball medals in recognition of hard work, determination and team work.
That's how cold it was! Mrs Robinson fetched a rug to keep us warm in between matches. ( She also kept us well fed with snacks too). Mrs Rimmer helped to keep Mrs Chadwick warm by bringing her a flask of tea. Thankyou parents for supporting us and keeping us fed during all our netball matches.

So much for the forecast of a mild day!

Not many smiles as we really really wanted to win everything! A long afternoon at Priory Ruskin-well done team.

Does it make your boat go faster?

Chris Graves from Inspire+ visited us to talk about the importance of doing our best in work as well as sport.
He told us about his rowing team who were involved in a 2km race in Henley. He showed us the actual video from the coxes hat and talked us through the determination, effort and pain that the 8 man crew endured through the race.
Chris the asked us what values were used by his team.Children remembered the Olympic values of determination, team work, courage...and Chris linked this to school work.
Is it important to do your best, to show determination to give 100%?

In class does it help me to prepare or does it disrupt or make me miss out....questions to make us think about our actions in class and our learning.

Chris and his team worked hard before  their race, training, giving up weekend time to train, getting plenty of rest and sleep, thinking carefully about the effect their actions would have on their boat race.

Hence the phrase-does it help the boat go faster?
Another great assembly getting us all to think about our learning and our actions.
