Lincolnshire School Games FInals Day

Sunday July 9th saw our Boccia team at the Lincolnshire School Games finals at The Meres and SKDC stadium.
8 School Sports Partnerships were represented , Marston representing the South West SSP .
We found our event, next to collect our T shirts.

Yellow T shirts- lots of insects found us within seconds!
Parents with us waiting at the start.

The parade  round the track with all competitors at the start of the Games.

The opening ceremony had dancers and coloured smoke.

We were playing in the table tennis centre at The Meres( no insects here and quite cool compared with outside).

Sarah ,the  Boccia England official  referee, explained the order of play.

The team communicated well, taking turns and looking to each other all the time.

Luca was pleased with the position of the red balls.

We played 6 ends per match with scores being made from number of winning team balls closets to the jack.

There was great tactical play as well as accuracy with throws.

Looking good for reds( Marston) but we knew it could all change in an instant with the opposition knocking our balls or the jack away.

In the end 3 teams were tied having lost 1 game each.Riley volunteered to represent Marston when Sarah asked for 1 player from 3 schools. Sarah explained to the 3 what they were to do( we didn't know but this was the play-off for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ).

Sarah placed the jack in the centre and Riley threw a brilliant ball very close to the jack, the next team threw and were a long way off, then the last player threw and the ball just curled in front of Riley's at the last minute.

We still were not sure what the final result would be at this stage.

Jade ( an ex English tennis player who played at Wimbledon) presented the medals.
We came 2nd and got silver medals.

Happy children ,parents and grandparents.

Proud children at our first Lincolnshire Games event.

I was very proud of all the children who displayed great competitiveness, team work, respect and thoroughly deserved their silver medal.

Thank you everyone, a great Sunday with you all.
