Cricket at Gorse Lane

On Wednesday 10 children represented the school at the rearranged Kwik Cricket Tournament at Grantham Cricket Club.
before the matches start- a sunny start...

match 1 against Huntingtower- we are slow to warm up and lost- we gave over 30 extras away which lost us the match.

waiting on the boundary

The sun went in and it was cold!

Children were warm as they were moving about- I was umpiring each match and therefore standing still and it was chilly!

second match against The National- we won .
waiting to bat....

3rd match against Denton- we won.

4th match against St Sebastians- we won again.
Our team camp and adults who provided refreshments for us...and took the photos as we were busy on the field for 5 matches without a break!

Chicken nuggets went down well....

We played St.Sebastian's next and won.
Our last match in our league was against Grantham Prep- we lost.
After the 5 matches we were joint 2nd in League 2 missing out on a semi final place due to loosing more wickets than The National-they qualified for  the semi finals even though we beat them!
We played Allington for our final match and lost coming 6th out of 12.schools(apart from Denton the rest were much bigger schools  than us ) a very respectable place.
Everyone played well, batting, fielding and bowling- I was proud of you all.
Thankyou parents for transporting and supporting us.
