Our 2 teams- a little bit apprehensive as no one is quite sure exactly how to play either game!
Boccia is played sitting down. From the chairs a jack is thrown, teams take it in turn aiming at the jack. If the red ball is closest then it is blue to go next. This continues until all 6 balls are thrown. Points are awarded to the team closest to the jack- if 2 of our red ball are closest, we score 2 points. Each game consisted of 3 legs.
Collecting our red balls ready for the next leg of the match.
The girls wating for their first match.
Snack time between matches!
Next for the Kurling-the stones had 4 ball bearing wheels that glided across the floor towards the target. Not easy- just how much force was needed and how to propel the stones proved tricky at first. Each match consisted of 6 legs alternating between ends.
The boys red end zone, 3 scoring stones.
Girls taking aim.
Technique has now been refined and all know just how to move the stones to get points on the scoring zone.
Tyler soon found out that he had a knack of moving opposition stones and so he held back and threw his stone last- a tactic that proved very successful.
Keen to collect the stones ready for the next leg.
At the end waiting for the final presentations.
Back at school the certificates were presented.
